Who didn’t play with paper dolls in the ’70s through the ’80s?
Paper dolls are such an accessible and inclusive form of fun… theoretically, you don’t need to spend a lot to play – just imagination and a pair of scissors (and maybe some scotch tape in case the scissors cut into tricky corners, hahaha).
Not only is it incredibly adaptable to your imagination, but you can also design your own outfits, cut out patterns from old magazines and catalogs, use fabric scraps, colored paper, sequins, glitter, etc. Aaaaand, of course, nowadays you can download and print whatever you want too!
Wait…Whaa?
YEP, in the 1990s, the magic of paper dolls was subtly yet beautifully evoked in the movie “Clueless” (1995), where the main character, Cher (Alicia Silverstone), has a computer-controlled wardrobe that uses a software to create the perfect outfit combinations (what a dream!!)
and here’s how it’s shown on her computer screen:

I don’t know if that was the main idea, but it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the clothes displayed like that (from the front and then “fitted” onto Cher ❤️).
And now about the freebie…., I did a lot of research and I swear I couldn’t decide what to share with you guys…
There are so many cute designs, but I still haven’t found any with really high-quality images that are free to download, so I decided to redraw a template I found on Pinterest … so that at least the outline and colors would look more “vibrant” when printed:
