My first synthesizer, the Korg Delta (DL-50).
It must have been around 1984 when I, or rather my father, bought this synthesizer second-hand for DM 1,000.00 :O. What can I say… just: WOOOOOW!!!!!! A dream come true! I finally owned a synthesizer. A real one—not an organ or anything like that, I already had one of those. This massive piece of musical electronics clad in sheet steel was the beginning of a great passion for synthesizers that continues to this day. Looking back, I can say that I’m really glad that the Korg Delta was my first synthesizer. Why? Because it is so simple and clearly structured that it was a great way to learn the basics of synthesizer programming. It also served me well in my first real band.
For those of you who are interested in synthesizers in more detail, I will go into more detail about the technical features and their possible applications in another post.
